Whenever you think about female voices on synthpop the name Alison Moyet from the British synth duo Yazoo promptly comes to your mind. Fair enough. Moyet and Vince Clarke (Erasure and early Depeche Mode) still have their catchy hits from 1982 Don't Go and Situation pumping dancefloors around the world and are constantly featured on 80's synthpop compilations.
Three decades later an equally impressive voice - sweet and powerful at the same time - reaches our ears: Light Asylum's Shannon Funchess has what it gets to get as stuck in our minds as Alison Moyet previously did. Supporting Shannon's voice the synth programming of Bruno Coviello keeps the post-punk mood from the '80s while injecting the necessary fresh air to make it sound contemporary in the 2010s. Keep a sharp ear and don't lose track of this fine act!
