Rare live footage: Kraftwerk - Pocket Calculator 1981 live at Utrecht

The iconic stage presence of the forefathers of electronic music and the legendary machineries of Kling Klang Studios used to turn every live gig of Kraftwerk into a (retro?)futuristic theatrical play. In this rare footage Kraftwerk performs Pocket Calculator, from their 1981 album Computer World. Dive into the future as it used to be.

Nesta filmagem rara, o Kraftwerk executa a clássica Pocket Calculator, do álbum Computer World de 1981. Mergulhe no futuro, como ele costumava ser.

Hurra Torpedo - Poker face

Not sure if you should cook dinner, do your laudry or play a cover of Lady Gaga? Oslo based Hurra Torpedo has no doubts: take your laundry machine and your stove and play Poker Face!
They have already performed Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart, Britney Spears' Toxic and Tatu's All the Things She Said... and have outshined the originals in each and everyone. Now it's time to give a new life to the pop queen dancefloor hit.

Depois de versões de Total Eclipse of the Heart (Bonnie Tyler), Toxic (Britney Spears) and All the Things She Said (Tatu) - sempre superando as originais - é hora de reconstruir o sucesso da atual rainha pop. Confiram: Hurra Torpedo - Poker Face.

music for a small planet: Electrovot - Turning Point

Electrovot has built its reputation over live gigs and compilation appearances and kept faithful to it in their just released debut album Turning Point. The Tijuana (Mexico)/San Diego(US) based band delivers catchy melodies, throbbing basslines and dancefloor driven beats. The synth programming is impressive, but we couldn't expect less from an album produced by Krischan Wesenberg (ROTERSAND) and Tom Lesczenski ([:SiTD:]). The clean vocals of Roberto Sandoval and the exciting electronics in Turning Point will please the ears of those into the melodic EBM style of bands like Solitary Experiments, Rotersand and early Apoptygma Berzerk. It's more than futurepop. It's music for a small planet.

People Are Still Having Sex.

There's a lot of buzz on the interwebz about today being Sex Day. I'm not sure this is a worldwide holiday, but it's still a good opportunity to recall a 20 year old club classic. Chigago based studio project La Tour advocates the most ancient human activity in this 1991 song.

Have a nice day. And Have a lot of sex.

La Tour - People Are Still Having Sex.

Watch and Learn (part 1): Haujobb - Dead Market.

It takes more than a bunch a software synths and fancy voice effects to make a true electro-industrial anthem.
But Daniel Myer and Dejan Samardzic seem to be quite aware of that for what we can hear in Hajobb's new EP Dead Market. While most of the releases out there sounds like redundant and disposable collections of distorted vocals, preset beats and factory default synth patches, Dead Market is a polished gem to our grinded years. Intricated and catchy melodies, hard dance beats and several layers of delicious synth goodness are there to make the title track a newborn industrial classic.

The EP is available as an 8 track digital album at bandcamp including the official video (Director: Boris May - Director of photography: Dominik Kuhn).

Watch and learn kids.

Years ahead of its time: Harry - Genebra (live @ Brazilian TV)

If there's something that can cost you really high is being far ahead of your time. Being a pioneering artist must be the hardest path to track, but it's hard to avoid it when real talent is involved. Brazilian industrial/synthpop/electro-rock band Harry is a canonical case of pioneering leading to oblivion. Their fusion of beats, experimentalism and guitars may sound common place to fans of nowadays hyped bands, but back in the '80s they were unique in the genre and despite becoming a cult among alternative listeners they never really succeeded in the mainstream. Sadly, they were too good for radio.

In this video , Harry announces their second full lenght release Vessel's Town (1990) and performs Genebra, from their 1988 album Fairy Tales at the tv show Boca Livre hosted by Kid Vinyl. Their full discography has been rereleased in a fancy luxurious box entitled Taxidermy by Fiber Records in 2005.

Happy Birthday Douglas McCarthy!

Douglas McCarthy, lead singer of Nitzer Ebb, has just turned 45 but his voice and stage performance are just as  powerful as in the early days of NE.

Along with Bon Harris in Nitzer Ebb, McCarthy recorded countless industrial anthemns which soon became club classics worldwide, sometimes crossing the boundaries of the underground and hitting the mainstream. McCarthy have also collaborated with Recoil's (former Depeche Mode member Alan Wider) and the German industrial masters Die Krupps.

During the 2000's McCarthy paired with the DJ Terence Fixmer in the succesful project Fixmer/McCarthy. Having split in 1995 after the release of the album Big Hit, Nitzer Ebb reunited in 2006 and have perfomed several concerts since then. In each of the live appearances, the audience witnesses all the wilderness and rage that have become the trademark of Nitzer Ebb's concerts since the early 80's.
