#EBMday part I. - Euphorbia

Rivetheads of the world unite! It's february 24th or 24/2, in European and Brazilian date formats. Which reminds us of Front 242, and led the Electronic Body Music fans to declare it the international EBM day!

Today, in a series of posts we'll present you the bands that started it all, the ones that kept the machines running, those who are leading the scene today and those with a brilliant 'dark' future ahead.

Starting with my homeland, Brazil.
Brazil used to have a strong scene in the '90s when influential bands like Aghast View, Simbolo and Morgue gained a lot of attention on international music magazines and alternative dancefloors around the world.
But we can still find talented acts like the duo Euphorbia, from the southern Porto Alegre.

In this video, shot at Penumbra Cyberparty, ManMachine (electronics) and Messiah (voice) perform Pater Noster, a song from their EP Achromatopsia released on web label Phantasma 13.

New Combichrist video: Throat Full Of Glass

Combichrist has just released their new music video Throat Full of Glass, directed by talented photographer Chad Michael Ward.

Ward is well known for his creative nude and fetish photography and Combichrist has been spicing its industrial techno anthemns with blood and sex for quite a long. What else could we expect of a video joining them together?

But you'll have to wait to see the uncensored EXPLICIT version, announced to be released soon. The "clear version" made available now shows no nudity but keeps the violence, hotness and fun.

Throat Full of Glass is featured in the album Making Monsters released by Out of Line (Germany) and Metropolis (US) in 2010.

She Wants Revenge - Take the World

"All those moments. Will be lost in time..."

The new video from the US indie/post-punk band She Wants Revenge starts quoting the replicant Roy Batty from the proto-cyberpunk cult movie Blade Runner. And then gets better and better.

Apparently shot with a state of the art DSLR camera (maybe Canon 5D Mark-II) and directed by Adam Bravin (who also is a member of She Wants Revenge) the video makes a brilliant use of shallow depths of field - made possible by the affordable prime lenses for DSLR cameras - to portray the intimacy of beautiful and seductive models. Bravin shows that his talent confortably transpasses the border of music into the realm of photography. And we welcome that!

N-Sphere - Art Magazine

N-Sphere - February issue.

N-Sphere announces itself as "a monthly magazine featuring visual arts in various forms, from the old to the new, from the camera to the needle point. gradually expanding to form its own galaxy, the n-sphere includes an interconnected section with the music world." But it certainly goes beyond that. In the crossover between visual arts and music they also collide (no pun intended) with films and literature as in the article about David Cronemberg's 1996 film adaptation of J. G. Ballard's novel Crash (ok, now you see the pun) featured on january issue. The epigraph "See the breaking glass/ in the underpass" quotes the lyrics from the song Warm Leatherette, inspired by Ballard's novel and originally recorded by The Normal and later covered by dozens of artists including Grace Jones, Block 57, Duran Duran, Chicks on Speed, Pankow and is being covered right now by Aire'n Terre for their upcoming album Nowpunk!

The magazine features artwork from both unknown and stabilished artists from all over the word and you'll certainly recognize names as Kaos Beauty Klinik (aka Richard Kadrey - novelist author of The Sandman Slim and one of the quintessential '80s cyberpunk novels: Metrophage), also featured in the january issue.

Besides the magazine, the N-Sphere team also creates and provide art, design and video to audio artists. Of course you can expect high standard concepts in everything they create as in the video Melancholie for the electro-industrial german band KiEw.

The art/design team behind N-Sphere can be also found standing their ground in mostly every existing social media and online art community. Check the list at http://www.sfere.ro/outside/ and be sure you keep an eye on them!

==================================
